Commissions
If you would like me to do a commission for you then it would be my pleasure though there are a few of things to consider. Of course, if you are unsure about anything then you can drop me a line and I can let you know what I need.
With all commissions I'll work with you as much as you want me to. If you wish to check anything first such as layout, size or position of the subject, markings (if it's a pet or an animal) or anythng else I can send you a photo of the initial pencil sketch and show you what I plan to do. If you want anything altered then all you have to do is let me know. Once the picture is underway it gets more tricky but I'm always happy to try and change thngs if I can. If you need progress reports because you have a deadline then that's fine and I can send you an email showing you how far things are progressing.
Prices...
These are my current prices. While on the one hand I'm running a business, on the other hand I know that everyone's budget is different. Some people have no trouble finding the money while others need to save up. My aim when I do a commission or sell a picture is that you are happy with everything. Not just the picture but the price you paid for it and the service you received while it was done. So I have no problem if you want to talk money as long as you understand that I may not be able to help you out, although I will try my best.

A3

A2 and A1 varies depending on subject
Plus any framing if applicable and postage.
Things to bear in mind are...
Deadline
The more time I have to do it the more chance it will be done when you need it. Baring in mind that I may have other work on or that life can sometimes get in the way. If the deadline's tight then I'll work as fast as I can and do my best to get it done though I may not be able to give you any guarantees. If you are unsure if you have enough time then get in touch and I'll let you know.
Subject
Do you want the head, head and shoulders, whole body, just the face etc? Looking at you, away, any particular position etc. Does it have a special collar or blanket that it sleeps on. Little things like that.
Size
What size paper do you want it drawn on? Bare in mind that whatever size you choose will look much bigger once it has some mountboard and a frame.
Medium
In other words, do you want it in Pencil (tones of grey), Pen and Ink (black and white) or Colour (Acrylic Ink). (I don't usually do colour for pets and wildlife)
Framing
If you want the picture framed you may need to add on a little more time should you have a deadline as framers are often very busy. Also, if it is then going to be sent through the post, framed pics will require a courier unless it can be picked up or dropped off by me. If you would like me to get it framed for you then that's fine. Give me any ideas of what you want otherwise I'll leave it to the framer to decide what looks best (they always seem to know).
Copyright
If you buy the original it doesn't mean that you buy the rights to the picture and as such an artist can then use it for cards and prints. If you wish this to be your property in it's entirity then you need to buy the rights to it as well and I would then have to ask your permission to use the image. (But is does mean that you can make cards and prints if you so choose.) As I understand the costs for buying the total rights to an image can vary between 1 - 10 times the price of the pic but this depends on the intended use. It's only happened to me once before for a Building Portrait and I charged the minimum x1.
Pet Portraits
When it comes to pets I usually work from a photo. Mainly because the pet tends to be running around getting up to all kinds of mischief or because there are markings and details that I need to get a closer look at. Perhaps more obviously, I can't keep it in my studio and pull it out of a drawer when I need to. Unless it's a tortoise.
So what I need is a s many good quality photos as you can spare or copies. Everything would be returned afterwards. You can post, email, use a mobile or hand to me in person. Or depending on the distance, I can collect them from you.
If you can't get hold of any photos yourself then you can bring the pet to me at my studio or, again depending on the distance, I could come to you and take some. (I can make exceptions if you live somewhere warm and sunny.)
When I do a Black and White pic (pen and ink) I often make the eyes coloured so have a think about whether you want them coloured or the same as the rest of the picture?
Wildlife Commissions
With wildlife subjects, most people don't have a set position in mind so I'll usually work from a single photo or use a combination of them. In this case it's far more likely that you haven't taken a photo yourself as you would with a pet so if you want anything specific in the pic such as background, angle, vegetation or whatever, then let me know.
Map Commissions
If you'd like me to do a map for you the let me know what kind of style you would like and what you would like featured on it - historical, fantasy, black and white, colour, towns, woodlands, hills etc. Whether you would like a border, key, particular font for the lettering.
I can also do fantasy maps from my imagination and then add any elements you wish so you may have in mind towns and terrain but leave the shape of the land to me.
Model Scenery Commissions
Model Scenery requirements are similar to pictures and maps. You need to think about deadlines and any specific things you want included. Most important is scale and size. If you want a single peice or a few that combine. Is it going to fit into a particular genre or style, do you need space for figures to move about, buidlings to be solid or hollow?
The most important thing to consider though is how to get the model to you once it is done. If you live close enough then you may be able to pick up the model or I can deliver it (though I might need a few quid for fuel). Otherwise it will probably mean a courier so you would need to think about having someone around when it's delivered.
I can send some items by Royal Snail but there is a greater risk of breakage (you can't get away from it I'm afraid) and the parcels are often much larger than the models because of the extra wrapping to protect the items. This can mean that postage can vary quite a lot. Sometimes less than a courier and sometimes more. Most of the time Royal Snail'is fine, it just depends on how robust the items are.
It's almost impossible to set prices for scenery so if you are interested then get in touch and we can work out a price that we are both happy with.
Figure Painting
I can paint miniature figs for you, from individuals to army units. Prices vary depending on how detailed you would like them and whether you want them based. For example, fantasy figs have a lot of leeway when it comes to clothing and basing while historical figs such as Napolionics or WW2 figs have specific uniforms with some even having set breeds of horses or hair coulour for famous geerals. Best thing to do is get in touch and let me know what you would like and then we can work out a price we are both happy with plus any other details.
